SAVAGE ASSAULT.
BURGLAR’S ATTACK ON OLD MAN. (From a Correspondent.) SYDNEY, October 27. James Porch, 78, of Dulwich Hill, was the victim of a brutal assault at his home this afternoon. When tho old man returned home, he noticed In the back room several suit cases which had been packed ready for removal. As he stepped Into the hall, a man rushed at him and lilt him over the head with a heavy instrument and severely belaboured him. The old man was later removed to the hospital, where lie was admitted In a serious condition suffering from a fractured nose ami a deep cut on the bark of the head and shock. More than £3O worth of clothing had been packed in several cases. The police scoured Die district but failed to trace the attacker.
