LAWN TENNIS.
AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONS. TO PLAY AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The Auckland Lawn Tennis Association has .finalised arrangements for the appearance on Friday uf J. B. Crawford, the world’s champion, and Vivian McGrath, another famous Australian player. McGrath will be opposed by C. E. Malfroy, the well-known Wellington player. Acting upon medical advice, Crawford will not play a singles match, hut he will he associated with McGrath in a doubles -game against Malfroy and N. G. Sturt, of Auckland. McGrath is only seventeen years ■old.
WALTON CLUB. OPENING OF TUB SEASON. There was a largo attendance at the opening or the Walton. Tennis Club’s season and favoured with Ideal conditions somo very enjoyable games resulted. The opening ceremony was performed by Mr Livingstone, and Mrs Livingstone lilt the first ball over the net. Winners of the tournament were:— Ladles, Miss E. Kirk; men, Mr W. Watt, of ICereone. The tennis dance In the evening was very enjoyable and resulted In a good supply of funds for the courts.
TAUHEI CLUB. The Tauliel club opened Its courts on Saturday. There was a largo muster or players and friends, and players from Mangateparu and Whitikahu clubs. The ladles’ committee entertained ■ the guests at luncheon and arternoon tea. The courts were fully occupied from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A presentation was made to Mr P. Clark, who has been' president for a number or years, but lias left the club to join the Whitikahu Club. Mr F. Jack, (tie president, voiced appreciation of the good service M'r Clark had rendered to the club in the past.
