Keen demand existed at the ’opening of the wool sales at which 10,000 hales were offered. Merinos come--hacks were 55 per cent higher than at the opening sales last year; fine crossbreds, 50 per cent; half-hreds, 40 per cent to 45 per cent and a small lot of coarser grades, 25 per cent. The Continent and Japan secured the bulk of the offering, which was i light conditioned, soft handling wool from the Rlverina. The leading prices were 2ld for fleece and 18d for comebacks. Practically all the offering was sold. PERTH, Sept. 19. At the wool sales 24,000 bales were offered, almost all being sold. Values were equal to Adelaide prices at the beginning of this month, 25 per cent above the Perth June rates, and 50 per cent above last season's opening sales. The top price, 21Jd, was secured for a small lot from the Laverton district; Bradford was the strongest operator followed by France and Japan.
