REICHSTAG FIRE.
THE LONDON INQUIRY. FURTHER EVIDENCE GIVEN. ‘’“the hearing adjourned. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Sept. 16, 2 P-m.) LONDON, Sept. 15. Dr. Sachs, who will defend the Communist, Tppgler, at the Leipzig trial is the most interesting figure at the Reichstag fire Inquiry, to which he listened attentively in search of useful evidence. < Herr Grzeshinsky, the Chief of Police, detailed the methods of securing police reinforcements at critical junctures. Herr Georg Bernhardt, ex-editor or the Volksische Zeitung, declared that the former Chancellor, General won Schleicher, meant to govern y ith °u£ the Reichstag, and was preparing for a Socialist Empire under the Hohenzollerns. He said the trades unions allegations that the Communists were responsible for the fire were based on fairy tales. Only the Nazis could bene-' fit by incendiarism. The Government, by accusing the Communists, was able to exclude them from Reichstag,' which was a flagrant breach of the Constitution. Herr Torgler, who was ■an ■ intelligent political authority, would never commit the folly of burning the Reichstag. The hearing was adjourned.
