Hope (Victoria), who defeated A. W. Jackson (Victoria), six up and five over 36 holes. It was Hope’s first appearance in the Australian championship. Previously he had twice represented Britain against the United States in the Walker Cup and played five times for Soa(t|land dgainst England. 'He was the first amateur in England In the open ohamplon'shlp of 1932. Jackson played his usual consistent game, but Hope was brilliant on the greens and controlled his ball splendidly In the high wind. Sloan Morpeth was eliminated on the 87th green in the quarter finals by Jackson. The final of the professional championship of Australia (36 holes) was won by Sam Richardson (New South Wales), who defeated A. Spenoe (Viotora) nine up and seven. Riohardson at present is the best and most orthodox shot maker in Australia. Spenoe made a big bid to win the double for the Yarra Yarra Golf Club, of which Hope also is a member, and accomplished the first leg of the double.
