WIN FOR THE BANKS. i ANNUAL GAME WITH LAW. The annual Banks v. Law match \L-as" held yesterday afternoon at Rugby Park, Banks winning by 15 points to 6 and retaining possession of the Gillett Banner. It was a fast game with many bright interludes. The proceeds were devoted to the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ relief funds. The first relief from scrambling play came when Hook and Fraser exchanged up the line and got Banks well within striking distance. The Law backs defended solidly and reversed play, forcing Banks to the line. Banks, in good hook-entry style, made an advance, which was speedily “chequed” by the legal luminaries. Possessing good security, the Banks backs handled in snappy fashion before the goal, Robertson, on the wing, running around to score. Speedy was responsible for the “conversion” loan.— Banks 5, Law 0. Weak tackling by the Law players gave the opposition several chances and a melee took place in the Law twenty-five.

Law Attaok. McDell set the Law backs in motion, but Hammond dropped the pass, Hook intercepting- and dashing for the counting-house. He was “deposited” after a bright run. Banks cashed some dud 'Cheques and were caught unawares, Law making a strong bid and nearly winning the case. 'Within five yards out the Law backs made several thrusts. Reward came when -Grace kicked a penalty goal.—Law 3, Banks 5. After the interval Banks called up their reserves, and with their forwards attacked strongly. After a spell of tightplay Caskey cleared, but the Bank backs again decreased Law’s overdraft. Hook then ran through the defence from midfield and fed Heathcote, who was taokled. 'Hoolc recovered and went over between the posts. Speedy converted. —Banks 10, Law 3. Grace, Fitz-Gerald and Hammond figured in a Law rush, but the winger was forced out. Book intercepted another Law passing rush and ran half the field. He kicked across to Smart, who scored. Speedy added further credit.—Banks 15, Law 3. Fluctuating play followed, with both sides striving hard. Law, pressing the point, got into the Banks’ territory, where Grace again kicked a penalty just before time, leaving the final score —- Banks ■ 15 Law 6 Mr R. Frazer was the referee.
