ITEMS OF INTEREST. --5 MAGISTRATE’S COURT. 1 A LENGTHY SITTING. The September sitting- or the Cambrldgo Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday morning before Mr S. L. Patterson, S.M.* Prohibition Breach. A rharge of breaking ills prohibition order was preferred against Herbert Wall, of Cambridge. The police stated that the accused was In the hahit of going to Hamilton on drinking houts and he was neglecting his family. He was convicted and fined £2 with costs 12s in default •seven days’ imprisonment. Unlicensed Car. For using a car on the Hamilton* Cambridge Road without a proper license and with having attached a wrongly assigned number plate, James Stuart, was fined" £ 1 on each charge, with costs £1 2 s. Heavy Traffic Breaches. Inspector R. Metcaire for the Walpi County Council charged Arthur John Andrews, of Rotorua, with exceeding the speed limit for heavy motor-lorries on the Hamllton-Cambridge Road on August 3. The charge showed that the maximum speed for a class E vehicle Is 25 miles per hour. Edmund Carlquist, of Rotorua, was similarly charged. Mr W. King, or Hamilton, appeared Tor both defendants and entered a plea or not guilty. Both defend-' ants were fined £2 and costs 12s. Poisoning of Pigs. Jas. Niven Todd, farmer, or Taotaoros* was charged with causing unnecessary suffering oil July 16, to six pigs, the property or F. Docherty, a neighbouringTarmer. ... In reviewing the case the magistrate traced the evidence given at the August sitting of the Court, in which it was shown that defendant laid poison for tna pigs which frequently strayed on to his property, thereby causing damage. The poison was eaten by the pigs which subsequently died. Delivering Ills reserved! The Inspector of the Waikato Central Rabbit Board, charged the following farmers In the board’s area with failing to destroy rabbits arter having sent to them the necessary notices: Ernest Ricnara Lee (Roto-o-rangi). Oliver Samuel Shale (Roto-o-rangi). Arthur Finlay (Horahora). The charges referred to various dates rrorn July 10 to 19, under Section 7 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act. Ernest R. Lee pleaded not guilty and was defended by Mr S. Lewis, the plaintiff being represented by Mr D. J. London.
