OBITUARY.
MR JOHN T. MOWAT. “THE KINDLY GIANT.” (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Monday. The death lias occurred of Mr John Tinline Mowat, aged 70 years, known as “ The Kindly Giant.” Deceased was a member of a wellknown Marlborough family, and for the last two years had been honorary secretary of the Blenheim Distress Committee. He also had full'control of the relief depot. He is survived by a widow, two daughters, Mesdames L. H. Clouston (Springlands) and A. Goyder (Spring Creek), and two sons, Roy (Wellington) and Alexander (Mokau).
MR QEORQE WOOD. AUCKLAND, Monday. The death ocourred suddenly at Blrkdale on Saturday of Mr George Wood, who would have been 80 years of ago on August 19. There is one son, Mr W. G. Wood, of Birkdale, and six daughters, including Mesdames A. A. Garvey, of Rukuhia, and N. Mclndoo, of Hamilton. MR O. H. KENNETT WATKINS. AUCKLAND, Monday.
