VALEDICTORY.

COMPLIMENTARY SOCIAL. PRESENTATION- AT MATAMATA. A complimentary social was tendered by the Matamata CrJoket Club to Mr W. W. Livingston. Mr J. Pohlen occupied the chair and representatives of other clubs were present. The chairman referred to Mr Livingston’s 25 years’ service with the Matamata club and complimented him on leading the team to victory in the South Piako competition last season. Mr B. Cudby, on behalf of the olub, presented Mr Livingston with a handsome travelling rug, as a token of esteem.

Mr Livingston suitably replied. - A long toast list was honoured and many testimonies to Mr Livingston’s sterling qualities on and off the Hold were expressed. Speakers wore Messrs J. Pohlen, J. W. Simpson, J. Mclntyre, T. Scott (Manawaru), 11. Stone (Manawaru), Harvey (Tirau), W. Ayres (Gordon), Father I>. V. Silk, Mr G, G. Griffiths, Dr. J. T. Laurenson, Messrs G. ft. Barry, B. Cudby, J. E. Cummings, J. R. Whelan, J. Landells, W. L. Hollis, A. E. Pickering and F. Banks.

FAREWELL AT NGARUAWAHIA. Mr A. Warburton, who has resided In Ngaruawahia for 14 years, was farewelled at a largely-attended smoke ooncert prior to his departure for Auckland. In proposing the toast of the guest of the evening the chairman (Mr H. J. Sampson) referred to the fine example of citizenship set by Mr Warburton. All good causes had his wholehearted support. , In, presenting Mr Warburton with a ch'eque as a parting gift from his Ngaruawahia friends Mr Sampson expressed the hope that in his new surroundings Mr Warburton would enjoy improved health and many happy years of life. Mr Warburton suitably responded. The following toasts were honoured: “The King,” "The Farming Community," proposed by Mr A. J. Garry, responded to by Mr S. S. Saulbrey; "Commercial and Industrial Interests,” proposed by Mr J. S. Johnston, responded to by Mr R. P. Knight; “Local Bodies,” proposed by Mr W. G. Adams, responded to by Mr H. D. Sampson; “Sports Bodies," proposed by Mr 11. F. Rogers, responded to by Messrs K. M. Wright and A. B. Galbraith (Golf Club), H. J. Sampson (Tennis Club), and 11. B. Fraser (Bowling Club); “The Ladles,” proposed by Mr C. McCowan, repsonded to by Mr G. C. Read.
