Czechoslovakia s Defiance. On the day tho Republic of Czecho-Slovakia was constituted it -was almost entirely without armed forces and armaments. Yet in defiance of the whole spirit of the Treaty by which the State came into being, it to-day maintains armies and armaments which for its population is perhaps the most formidable in Europe, writes Viscount ' Rothermerc in (ho Daily Mail.
Such is the return Czecho-Slovakia makes for the generosity,' unexampled in history, of the victors in the Great War. These armod forces are now largely used to tyrannise over and coerce the German and Hungarian minorities in the State. A positive reign of terror to-day exists in many parts of the country, particularly those peopled by Hungarians.
Geneva sits with folded arms and allows this monstrous injustice to continue. Is it not high time a conference of three or four of the big Powers Avns called to deal with the armaments of Czechoslovakia, and to'redress the intolerable injustices under which the minority populations aro suffering in that country?
