BIRTHDAY.

MR ENOB HOLLOWAY. MORRINSVILLE’S OLDEST RESIDENT ‘ MORRINSVILLE, Monday. One of the oldest veterans In New Zealand, Mr Enos' Holloway, is celebrating his 96th birthday at Morrlnsville to-day. Born at Devonshire. Mr Holloway joined the 40th Regiment, which was stationed in Ireland, then in Australia, and came to New Zealand when the Maori War broke out in Taranaki In 1860. Then the war spread to the Waikato, and the 40th Regiment wore part of the force under General Cameron, which fought its way up the Waikato from Mercer to Te Awamutu. When the war ended Mr Holloway took his discharge and settled in the Waikato, where he lias resided since 1866. Mr and Mrs Holloway enjoy the best of health in their home in Morrlnsville, where they have lived since 1900. Of their family of fourteen, six are living.
