ENGLISH REVOLT. CAPTAINS AND CLUBS MAY STOP* BEFORE AUSTRALIAN TOUR.

• i LONDON, July 18. The cricket expert of The Daily Telegraph announces that a visit by the ' Australian team next stimmef was practically certain until a rovil weeks ago.

There is now a distinct possibility of the lour being suspended until relations between England and Aus* tralla, strained by body-line, become normal. However, the clause in the M.C.C.’f cable indicating that .the future policy of lej theory bowling in English cricket would be decided by thi county captains, has caused a remarkable change In the situation. There has been such revulsion of feeling among the captains and officials, that, with two or three exeep- > tlons, they are emphatically in opposition to the use of leg theory by fast bowlers. These are already exercising their authority in county elevens. One fast bowler has already been approached by the county committee, who suggested that be might usefully modify his present methods. It Is claimed, therefore, that suggestions invited at the end of the season will be almost unanimously la favour of making possible the offer to the Australians of the assurance that nothing further would happen to endanger the good relations. This assurance would he conveyed to the Imperial Cricket Conference without the M.C.C. needing to ,give Its direct approval.
