HERD-TESTING.

SOME INTERESTING FIGURES. A GRATIFYING SUCCESS. GENERAL MANAGER’S REVIEW. Some Interesting figures relative to herd testing were furnished by the general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Herd Testing Association (Mr S. J. Sheaf) at the annual meeting of convenors of the Association In Hamilton. During the past season, he said, the Association tested 2000 herds, as compared with 1890 for the previous season, representing an Increase of 110 herds, or 5.82 per cent. A total of 115,006 cows were tested once or moro during the season, as compared with 106,290 for the previous year, representing an increase of 8716 cows, or 8.20 per cent. Average Size of Herds. The average size of the herds tested during the past season was as follows, with the figures for the 193182 season 'in • parentheses:— (a) Based on the number of cows actually tested —57.50 (56.24). (to) Based on the number of cows “charged f0r”—53.73 (52.36). Two additional central testing depots were established during the past season at Hautapu and at Taupiri, making a total of seven. The number of cows tested at the various depots was as follows: —
