CROSSING TRAGEDY.
FOUR PEOPLE KILLED. VERDICT AT THE INQUEST. DRIVER OF TRAIN EXONERATED. (By Telegraph.—press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. A formal verdict was returned today at the inquest -on four persons, who were killed at the Porirua level crossing on May 21. The coroner, Mr Gilbertson, said it was impossible for the driver of the engine to avoid an accident, and he was in no wise blameable. The flashlights and other warning devices must have been clearly visible to the car driver.
