WAIKATO TEAM CHOSEN. MATCH WITH BAY OF PLENTY. Byrne (Hamilton), J.-Leeson (Morrinsville). Reserves: W. Tepure (Rotorua), ■forward; Wadrea (Rotorua), back. CAMBRIDGE UNION. FLEMING SHIELD COMPETITION. With the senior representatives away at Morrinsville challenging for the Peace Cup the chief attraction at Cambridge was the first round of the Fleming Shield competition for other seniors than the first fifteen. Northern and Leamington met before a fair attendance. Leamington had a very weak team and were defeated by 17 points to G. , For the winners Wetere, Bryant, Marsden, Frank Shaw and Allwood scored tries, Chltty converting one. Martin and Cooper scored for Leamington. Mr T. Kerr was referee. United v. Hautapu. United and Hautapu seniors mot at Leamington. It was an excellent game, United Leading 9—5 at half-time. In the second half Hautapu soon scored and there was a keen tussle to the end. Just at the close United got a converted try, to win by 14 to 8. For the winners Andrews and Ila’l (2) scored tries. Hewitt converted one and also kicked a penalty goal. For Hautapu Morris and Harris scored tries and Kidd converted one. Mr G. Wallace was referee. junior Trial. A junior representative trial was a poor exhibition, A’s healing B’s by 4 points (a drop-kicked goal by Richmond) to 3 points (a try by Lye). Mr B. Macdonald was referee. Third Grade. Leamington 14, beat United 3. For the winners Chard (3) and Dray scored, the latter converting one. J. Foster scored for United. Mr H. Carter was referee. Hautapu 3 (a try by Burge), bea. Northern 0. Mr V. Phillips was referee, WEBT COAST DEFEATS BULLER (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT, Saturday. The first of the home-and-home Rugby matches of the season for the Rundle Cup between Buller and West Coast took place this afternoon. The first spell closed with the score West Coast, 3, Buller; 0. The final score was: West Coast, 11; Buller, 8.
