ITEMS OF INTEREST, WAIKATO HOUNDS. MEET AT PUKERORO. (Special to Times.) A meet of the Waikato Hounds '<vas held at the Pukeroro Crossroads on Saturday in fine weather. In the absence of the master, Mr Wynn Brown, owing to a fall ou Wednesday, the whip, Mr Ned Brown, carried the horn. Mr A. Speake acted as whip. The master hopes to be in the saddle again on Wednesday. Hounds threw off on Mr Butler’s farm, where a hare was soon found, which ran through King’s and across the road into Duncan’s. Hounds were called off and taken back to Butler 3 and found immediately. The trail led through Humphrey Russel’s property and on through John Russel’s place and away to Miller’s bush, but the line was not jumpable and hounds had the run to themselves. After killing their hare, hounds came back to the horn. A move was then made to the river bank-v on Mr N. Bank’s farm, which proved; ' blank. Drawing on through Porritt’s and Karl’s properties a hare was. found which ran through Banks’, Ola-! ings’, Elphick’s and Taylor’s. Doub- ( ling back she made for the bush at the hack of Innes Taylor’s, where hounds changed. MEMBERS’ NIGHTThe Cambridge Orphans’-Club held its second meeting of the season on Saturday in the form of a members’ night. There was a fair attendance o.f members and ladies, including visitors from Te Aroha and Morrinsville Clubs. ~, , Past President, Bro. F. R. Wooldridge, occupied the chair and welcomed the ladies and the representatives of the visiting clubs. \ Bro. Mackie returned thanks on behalf of the Te Aroha club. At the annual meeting of the Leamington Croquet Club a successful season was reported and a substantial credit balance. The election of officers was as follows: Patron, Mrs S. CAMBRIDGE GOLF CLUB. LADIES AND MEN. At the Cambridge Golf Links on Saturday a ladies and men match was, played and resulted in a win for men by 13 games to 8. Presentation to Member. After the match the president, Dr. 11 G. Tod, presented the club captain, Air A. W. Nicoll, with a clock, as a token of appreciation from the members. „ , .
