THE JUNIOR LEAGUE.

Dear Boys and Girls,— Do you like turning out old boxes and cupboards and getting Into a forgotten attic and finding all sorts or treasures ? 1 do. Did I hear somebody say, “ What has this to do with the Junior League of the S.P.C.A.? better stick to the point and talk about animals and their needs.” I’ll tell you now—l was turning out an old box of books and papers the other day and came across a lovely story In an old school magazine called “ Caesar, My Pet Dog.” It was written by a school girl. If I can get permission I will let you read It in the Junior League Corner some day. That’s one find or Interest to you as members or the League. Another big treasure, a friend of mine was cleaning up old things and round a book which had belonged to her. What do you think It was? A prize won in 1893 In an S.P.C.A. Essay Competition.

PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.

It was presented by “ Captain Kindheart,” of the New Zealand S.P.C.A., all those years ago. My friend is going to write to her mother and ask her to tell us all about It and if there was a Junior League in those V day. The girl who won that prize Is a grandmother now. Wouldn’t it he nice when you are grand-parents to be able to say, “There is no need Tor an S.P.C.A. now, because everyone has learnt how to care for animals.” A world without cruelty, and without Tear would be a good place to live In, Let’s try and make It so.
