SUBSCRIPTIONS OWING.

JUBTIOEB ASSOCIATION.

CONCERN IN THE SOUTH. Concern at the extent to which members of the Canterbury Justices of the Peace Association are in arrears with their subscriptions is expressed in the annual report of the association. Subscriptions in arrears total £95 ss. The report states that the statement of accounts for the year ended April 30 last reflects in a marked degree the present economic conditions, and causes the executive much concern. “It is realised that some steps should be taken to relieve the position and surmount the difficulties that confront members, and in order to do this the association proposes, subject to confirmation of the general meeting, to assist members who are in arrears by agreeing to grant a rebate of 5s on each year’® subscription now in arrear for the years 1930-32 inclusive, if paid before the end of July, 1933. The honorary auditors have drawn attention to the amount of arrears in a footnote to the financial statement.” The year opened with' 314 members, but in the course of the year the association lost 11 members by death, 21 by resignation, and two by removal. With a return to prosperity, it was expected, there would ■be many reregistrations. The report reviews the events of the year, mentioning that eo'clals and gatherings were held, and that interesting lectures were given to members.
