In the annual report regret was expressed at the death of the board s secretary, Mr Walter Stopford, after 12 years’ service. Rents totalling £439 17s 4d have been collected during the year, but there is .£242 14s 7d still outstanding. Personnel of Board. A general meeting followed, when » considerable discussion took place regarding the personnel of the board. A letter was read from the mayor, Mr C. H. .Priestley, referring to his proposals to the Under-Secretcry, Inw. ternal Affairs Department, that four members Of the Domain Board be elected by the people and the remaining three be chosen from the council. Mr Priestley's views were that the four members eleoted by the people, holding office as they would do for a term of seven years, would ensure continuity and' offset any suggestions of disorganisation likely to be brought about by the possible change in the council representative seats as a result of biennial elections. Mr Priestley said that with regard to council representation on the board, he was quite prepared to modify his proposal by agreeing to two representatives from the council and five from the people. A letter from the Under-Secretary, Department of Lands and Survey, in reply to the Mayor’s proposals, stated that- the Department would raise no objection and would be pleased to undertake the responsibility of the pre- ■ paratlon of the extra papers of appointment necessary by two members of ' - the board probably retiring after each .council election. It was moved by Mr Hooker that the board be inoreased to eight members and the borough council be invited to 'nominate two.—The motion was carried unanimously. Apart from the two council repre- ' sontatlves the Mayor is an ex-offlcio member Of the board. The appointment of secretary will bo decided at a special meeting next Tuesday morning. QOLF CLUB.
