SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT.
£2IBB DAMAGES CLAIMED. ACTION AGAINST BUS-DRIVER. AUCKLAND, Thursday. In the Supreme Court yesterday, Michael Karews, taxi-driver, claimed £l6B special damages and £2OOO general damages from Arthur Stanley Holton, bus driver, for compensation for Injuries received in a motor accident, .which occurred on February 23, 1932. Medical evidence was to the effect that plaintiff’s upper jaw and collarbone were broken and that, as the result of damage to the optic nerve, the left eye was practically deprived of its sight. The defence was a denial of negligence. Contributory negligence was alleged against Karews in that he failed to keep a reasonable look-out and exercise due care and caution, and that he crossed the street in a negligent manner. Lengthy evidence was taken, after which the case was 'adjourned until to-day.
