CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
ALLEGED USE OF KNIFE.
YOUNG MAN REMANDED,

Robert Henry Meaclem (21), labourer, was remanded to Friday on a charge of assaulting David Hammiil, aged -18, and causing bodily harm. It was alleged that late on Saturday night Meaclem, meeting Hammiil on the street, engaged in altercation, finally producing a. knife and inflicting several wounds, not serious hut necessitating Hammiil spending a day or so In bed.
It is understood that Meaclem, who is on probation, objected lo Hammill's attentions to a young woman.
