i £15,000 TROPHIES FOR AIR RACE.

One of iho great events connected with the celebration of Victoria’s Centenary in October, 19H4, will be an air race fr#m England to Australia, open to the airmen of the world, including' olllcial air forces of all nations. Sir Alaephersop Robertson, a wealthy Melbourne confectioner, has given £15,000 lor prizes—£10,000 and a gold cup for the fiver who finishes first i n any type of machine, £ISOO for the second, and £SOO for Iho third. In order that encouragement may be given to smaller types of aeroplanes there will also he a handicap race, for a first prize of £2OOO and a second prize of £IOOO. Gold medallions will he presented to all competitors who finish within two weeks of the start. World-wide interest has been aroused, and international rivalry Ji expected io bring numerous and representative entries.
