(By ‘‘Padlock)

MEETINGS AHEAD. May 20 —Rotorua T.O. May 20—Ashburton County R.C. (two events). , May 27—Kaikoura T.O. (at Nevv Brighton). « June 1, 3—jHawke’s Bay T.C. June 3, s—Canterburys—Canterbury Park T.C. June 16, 17 —Nelson T.C. (at Greymouth).

FORM AT EPSOM. Gone to Takaninl. The Hamilton owned Donee, who previously was trained locally, is now located with P. J. Smith, at Takaninl. Faded Away at the End. Free Logan was the pacemaker over the greater part of the Franklin Handicap, but failed to go on with it at the end. Could Not See It Out. .Free Gift and Worthy Chief looked likely in the middle stages of the May Handicap at Epsom, but faded away once the real business of the race began, Worthy Chief's Hawera and Cambridge form was indicative of a far better showing. Won Decisively. Wee Machine and Quid Halrst had the finish of the Henderson Handicap to themselves at Epsom on Saturday. Revelling In the going Wee Maohlne won decisively at the end and the fact that he was somewhat slow to move adds merit to his display. Guid Hairst tired a little in the very con'cluding stages. Closer at The Finish. Worthy Chief was closer at the finish in his Saturday’s engagement than at any stage of the race. The Mangere horse was well back over the middle stages, but was finishing on solidly at the end to be the closest of the others to the placed division. Gave an Improved Showing. Prince Pedro improved, vastly on Cambridge form to run the winner, Kew'pie’s Triumph, to two lengths, at Epsom, on Saturday. The Tama'here trained and Hamilton owned representative went an honest race throughout, but had no chance with the winner over the concluding stages.

Was at Double Figures.

Finishing with a rattle on the outside of the field, the two-year-old Chancellor won In decisive fashion in his Epsom outing and his return on the straight-out machine was a double figure one. It was a piece of patient driving on the part of owner-driver J. T. Paul.

Silver Bingen Wins Well. Displaying marked Improvement -on any forln. he had previously given evidence of In Auckland, Silver Bingen won the Franklin Handicap in effortless style. He was behind Raider, Free Logan and Homeward at the straight entrance, hut finished on solidly to score with something In reserve.

Stayed on Well. It was a sound performance that Dark McKinney gave lo win Ihc Whitford Handicap on Saturday. He soon went to the front and stayed on well to win by a decisive margin. The Paeroa -representative gave a vastly improved showing to that which he gave at Cambridge the previous week.

Just Failed to Get There. Golden Eagle gave a solid exhibition of honest trotting in the opening event of the Epsom programme on Saturday and at the home turn looked to have the race won. The fast finishing Golden Hula upset calculations over the final bit to catch her by a nock. Golden Eaglo will lose no friends by her display.

Ruined Her Chances. Kuini was favourite with both sections of the public in the Innovation Handicap at Epsom .on Saturday and ruined her chances by breaking on several occasions. When she finally settled down she was hopelessly out of it. Tile Te Awamutu filly would have been a tough proposition had sho settled down from'the commencement.

Won From End to End. k'cwpie’s Triumph won Ibe Fcrgusson Handicap from end to end on Saturday, lie bit the front along the back stretch and was clear at Ihe home turn. Setlling down lo the real business in hand he finished on in solid fashion and won with something in reserve.

Kewpie’s Triumph completed the double when lie won the Pa pa 100 toe, Handicap later in I lie day. Passing the stands lie surged lo the lead and was never afterwards headed. II was a sound race Ibal J. Bryce drove the winner lu victory.

Well Merited Vlotory. , ■lt was an overdue yet well merited victory that the Epsom trotter, Golden Hula, notched on Saturday. She broke badly at one stage but settled down again and trotting solidly overhauled the leaders in the straight to win by a narrow margin. Golden Huia had only £5 invested on her prospects on the win machine and her return to her' straight-out supporters was nearly two s'core. Publlo Were On. Despite the fact that she had little recent form to commend her prospects in the May Handicap at Epsom on Saturday, -May Chenault was installed -favourite by both sections of the public. The Tamahere pacer fully justified the confidence of her supporters although her winning margin was but a neck. May Chenault never threatened danger at any stage at Cambridge. ROTORUA ACCEPTANCES.
