THE AUCKLAND MARKETS.

BUSINESS VERY QUIET.

(By Telegraph.—special t,o Times.) ' AUCKLAND, Tuesday.

A good list of sales was put through on the Stock Exchange at the last call yesterday, but this morning opened quietly and no business was finalised in the" room, though a couple were reported. , _ One of these was Wilson s Cement, which sold 9d‘ higher, thus recovering part of the recent losses. At the fresh bidding there were not many changes, but buyers reduced their offers for Government 4 per cent, bonds 5s to £IOO ss. As was the case yesterday the only parcel offering was of 1946 4 per cent, stock, for which the vendor asked £IOO 15s. Banks and insurances were steady. The latter section w'as at. slightly lower values than ruled ten days ago.. Northern Roller Mills had their first sale since being listed at the 3.15 p.m. call yesterday, the sale price being £1 9s, and at this morning’s call buyers offered £1 7s, holders asking £1 10s.

Auckland Harbour Board G per cents were in demand at £lO3. A seller asked £lO7.

The Noon Call.

A further easing of Id in Bank of New Zealands was shown at the noon call and further buyers reduced their limits Id lower, with holders unchanged. Australian Glass made a rise of Is 9d since the previous sale last month. Wilson’s Cement dropped back fid during the morning, and the change was reflected In later offers. Colonial Sugars were on sale at £56 10s.

A parcel of British Tobacco was available at Is above buyers’ offers, which showed an even balance around Ihe April sale values. Inscribed stock of 1940 4 per Cent. Issue- sold again 10s above par offers. Bonds were increased by ss, hut none was to be had. SALES RECORDED.
