WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
TE HOE BRANCH.
A good deal of business was dealt with at the monthly meeting of the Te Hoe Women’s Institute, which met 'last Wednesday. All the members present signified their willingness to assist in any way they can to help relieve the distress in the district. Mrs Dickie was elected as delegate to attend.the Waikato Conference. A presentation was. made to Mesdames Twining and Cuff, who gained the highest number of points in last year’s competitions. The competition for the month was "The best vase of flowers," and was won by Mrs Cuff and Miss Green. Other competitions were held, the winners being Mrs Yearbury and Mrs Twining.
WAERENGA ,BRANCH
The monthly meeting was held at Waerenga recently, the president, Mrs Hunter, presiding. Remits to the forthcoming conference were read and discussed, and Mrs G. Boot was elected delegate to attend the conference to l be held in Hamilton In June. An interesting cushion art embroidery demonstration was given by Mrs A. B. Carley, A donation of £2 each was to be sent to Sister Esther and the Rev. Jasper Calder, for comforts for the aged. It was also decided to 'hold a social afternoon this month to assist the local churches, which are, in need of funds. A roll call “Home Hints," brought forth many useful and novel hints. Point, series for jam roll was won 'by Mrs A. B. Carley, Mrs C. Carter being second. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Cole and Ensoll.
MORRINSVILLE BRANCH,
Mrs Starnes presided in the absence of Mrs Pole. In spite of the holidays the attendance was good. Four new members were elected. A demonstration was given by Miss I. Pryor in cane tray-making, after wnlch supper was served by Mesdames Dickenson, Welch and Hoicroft and Misses Clark and Wright.
