The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated May 13, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: Tallow. —Auction will be held on May 17. Market continues quiet on spot and for shipment with no material change in values. Hemp.—Manila: Market active and firmer. “K” grade for May-July shipment sold at £ls and for JuneAugust shipment £ls ss. Sisal: Market firmer and good business has been done. No. 1 for June-August, shipment sold up to £l6 ss, and for August-October shipment up to £l6 10s. New Zealand: Market unchanged owing to absence of demand. No first hand sales reported.

Fruit*-Rangitlki and Coptic clear. Port Pirie at London and Piako at Manchester. Bulk sold. Cambridge discharging fruit in good condition. Market is slightly weaker, and a further decline is likely as a result of heavy arrivals of Australian and Tasmanian apples and oranges. , Apples.—Cox’s Orange in bad condition, 4s to 15s; bulk, 8s to 10s; Jonathan, bulk, 10s to 11s 6d; Dunn’s, 9s Cd to 11s; Delicious, 10s to 11s; London Pippin, 9s to 10s; Ballarat and Cleopatra, 10s 6d to 11s; Rlbston Pippin and Alfriston, 10s 6d; Adams Pearmain, Lord Wolseley, Senator, King David and Shoreland Queen, 9s Cd; Otago Cox’s Orange, bulk, 16s to 18s. Other Otago apples at the same prices quoted above. Pears. —Market overstocked, and forward condition of fruit forcing prices lower. Bulk: Beurre Bose, 11s 6d; P.
