LONDON, May 13

A violent scene occurred in the Marylebone Police Count to-day, when three Communists were charged with damaging an effigy of Herr Hitler in Tussaud’s waxworks.

Mrs Bradley was charged with assaulting and obstructing the police who were endeavouring to arrest her husband.

Attendants at the waxworks stated in evidence that the renovation cf the effigy would cost £l2. Mrs Bradley declared that paint was thrown on the effigy as a protest against Dr. Rosenberg’s representation of ‘‘a murderous Government." Eventually she was discharged.' f The other defendants attempted to make anti-Hitler speeches. They shouted in unison: ‘‘Down with Hitler I”

The magistrate ordered the removal of the men. Six policemen seized ■them and .there resulted violent struggles on the floor of the dock.

The accused finally were overpowered and remanded in custo'dy for a week. Commenting on the wreath incident, Mr J. L. Garvin, editor of the Observer, -says: “We respect the old German flag and honour the men who fell for it. Had Dr. Rosenberg brought these colours to mingle with ours we would have been touched, but the swastika, or 'hooked cross, is a symbol of Jew-baiting, Jew-toeating, or rearmament discord. “The hooked cross is the antithesis -of the Christian cross. It cannot be suffered to lie among the memorials at the Cenotaph.” Dr. Rosenberg, who has been recalled tc ! Berlin, in view of Wednesday’s meeting of the Reichstag, is to leave London to-morrow. He says he is satisfied with the results of his visit. It is always valuable-when faced with important problems. An anti-IHtler strike called in Danzig as a protest against the seizure of the trades union building failed. The Nazis claim to have obtained posession legitimately as tho building belongs to' the parent organisation in Berlin now.

A Hitlerlsed communique announces that complete order was restored when the Nazi flag was hauled down after conferences between the League’s * Commissioner, the President of the Danzig Senate and the Nazi leader. Herr Brill, the Socialist leader, and the other arrested persons have been released. LATER. " down WITH HITLERI " DEMONSTRATION IN ENGLAND. THE POLICE CALLED UPON. „ * United Press Assn.—Elec. ,Trt. Copyright. (Received -May 15, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. Cries of “Down with Hitler! Down with the murderer I Down with Fascism ! ’’ accompanied Dr. Rosenberg’s departure from Liverpool Street, where the demonstrators flung leaflets to the platform from the railway bridge. The police prevented other demonstrators from reaching Dr. Rosenberg’s compartment, and escorted some from the station.
