TOPICS OF THE DAY
A Sensible Suggestion. The suggestion, which lias emanated from Canada of a conference of representatives of dairying and exporting interests in that country and in New Zealand, is one which has much to commend it. It aims at solving the difficult relations between Canadian dairymen and New Zealand exporters by a proposal for Canada to purchase New Zealand butter when the supplies of local butter are insufficient to satisfy the market.
Jt is very pleasing that the proposed conference should lie held in New Zealand for it would enable a much closer degree of understanding to bo reached. Canada wants to buy our butter during the winter, and it would be a pity if some means could not be devised of allowing butter to enter Canada without prejudicing the interests of the Canadian dairyman.
