Out of 12,000 works submitted, 1750 pictures and statues will be exhibited at the Royal Academy, which is to open on Friday. Mr Birley, a New Zealander, is represented by a piclure of Mr Neville Chamberlain delivering 1 iis budget speech, a portrait of Sir Abe Bailey, and a Spanish mountain scene. Mr Alfred Baxter (New Zealand), and .Miss Eleanor Hughes (New Zealand), exhibit, seascapes. Other exhibitors include Lady Scott, the widow of the explorer, with a bust of Mr Stanley Bruce.
