AUCKLAND' CONFERENCE.

AUCKLAND: Friday.
A meeting of representatives of thß companies involved in the dispute was held yesterday. At four o'clock it was adjourned until Monday morning. Mr W. D. Ilolgate, president of the Northern New Zealand Coal Mine Owners’ Association, presided, and_Mr T. O. Bishop, secretary of the New Zealand Coal Mine Owners’ Association, attended. Representatives of the Renown, Pukemiro, Glen Afton, Taupiri and Hikurangi Companies were present. After the meeting Mr Ilolgate said the discussions had been held in camera and no statement could be made regarding the proceedings. Mr H. R. Mackenzie, chairman of Renown Collieries, Limited, declined to comment on the report that the Glen Afton and Taupiri Companies had separately approached their men and offered to sign agreements. Mr Bishop said he had no comment to make on the matter until after the resumption of the conference.
