PALMERSTON N„ Wednesday,

Milder conditions at the searchers'’ base at the Te Matawai hut were reported in a radio message picked up here to-day in connection with the search for the missing trampers. Four searchers got under way from the hut this morning, after being weather-bound for several days. They set out for Mitre Flat.

Simultaneously a Levin party -of three left to establish a camp In the Walrohine Bailey. A relief party of four left there today for To Matawai, where only the radio operator remains -on duty.
