The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, who has spent the last fortnight in his electorate, left Auckland last evening for Wellington.

The Bishop of Aotearoa, the Right Rev. F. A. Bennett, will arrive in Auckland from Hastings on Saturday to commence a six weeks’ tour of the Auckland diocese.

The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, has communicated with the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association thanking it for appointing him an honorary life member.

Messrs. D. F. Lewis, and K. B. Jaffray, of San Francisco, are at the Hamilton Hotel.

To-day marks the 40th anniversary of the death of the Hon. John Ballance, who was at that time Premier of New Zealand.

Mr. A. G. Mabee, secretary of the Auckland Trotting Club, returned to Auckland by the Wanganella yesterday from a visit to Sydney.

Colonel G. B. Appleton, of Melbourne, arrived at Auckland by the Wanganella yesterday on a holiday visit.

Mr Ramsay MacDonald, the British Prime Minister, has reached New York, en route for London. Before sailing he is to address the Pilgrim Society.—Press cable.

Mr. J. R. Butland, Government representative on , the New Zealand Honey Control Board, returned to Auckland by the Wanganella yesterday from Australia.

Mr Dynes Fulton, acting-chairman of the Dairy Produce Board, left for Palmerston North last evening, where he will meet members of the board to-day. He will return to Hamilton on Saturday.

Hamilton Hotel guests include Messrs L. Jackson, F. Dodd, W. Alexander, L. Biss, L. M. Craig, J. G. Griffiths, J. F. Mackley, J. H. Martin (Auckland), L. J. Clark (Wellington), J. M. Park and W. H. Williams (Gisborne).

Mr. T. A. Oxenham, of I-luntly, arrived last week, and is renewing old friendships after an absence of 21 years, writes a London correspondent under date March 21. Later he will visit Devon and Cornwall, Manchester and Scotland. He intends to return by way of Canada In July or August. Messrs 11. Windsor, president, and C. E. Goosman, secretary,, were appointed delegates to the annual conference of the Auckland Provincial Council of affiliated Agricultural and Pastoral Associations at a meeting of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-day. The conference is to be held in Auckland on May 2G.

At the annual meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last evening, Messrs. G. G. Kelly, 11. C. Savage, T. S. Withers and M. E. Fitzgerald were elected to the council of the society, Messrs. Kelly, Savage, Withers and R. White having retired ky rotation. The supernumerary members, Messrs. 0. Archcy, R. A. Falla and T. L. Lancaster, were reelected.

Mr E. 11. Ward was elected the first honorary life .member of tiic Wellington Primary Schools’ Rugby Union at the annual meeting of that body the other day. Reference was made at the meeting to the splendid service Mr Ward has rendered the union during the time he has 1/een mice ted with it. Mr Ward was attending his last annual meeting of the union, as he is to retire shortly.

Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., was the guest of honour at a meeting of members of Parliament at the British House of Commons on March 9. The IU. Hon! George Lansbury, M.P., presided. Mr. Jordan advocated the introduction of a reciprocal pension arrangement between the several parts of the Empire. On ttie same evening lie spoke at a large public gathering at Tottenham, North London. Mr. .lordan was among those who attended (lie dinner preceding an address given by Mr. Simon Rowson on “British influence Through the Film."
