NEW ZEALAND SHIPMENT.
SUCCESSES IN AUSTRALIA. Aberdeen Angus cattle from New Zealand are upholding the standard of the Dominion’s pedigree stock abroad. At the Sydney Royal Show the female championship was awarded to the four-year-old New Zealand bred cow, Nora of Waiterenui, bred by the president of the New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Society, Air W. A. AlcFarlane, of Hastings. This is the sixth year in succession that a New Zealand bred cow has won the championship at the Sydney Royal Show In competition with cattle bred in Australia or imported from Scotland and Canada. Nora of Waiterenui was champion at the New Zealand Royal Show last November and was then purchased by Alessrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., for export to Colonel White, of Bald Blair, New South Wales, for 200 guineas. Last year’s champion cow, Celandine of Glenelg, bred by Air J. W. Elllngham. of Dannevirke, New Zealand, was not exhibited, but her two-year-old son. Booroomooka Black Gold, was placed over a number of Imported bulls when the reserve champion was awarded to him. A fortnight earlier at the important Bingara Show this bull was awarded the championship of his breed and the supreme championship over all breeds, while his dam. Celandine of Glenelg, won similar honours In the female section. The reserve championship In females was awarded to another New Zealand bred cow in Koran of Waiterenui. Signal honours fell to two daughters of still another New Zealand bred cow in Twinkle of Ben Lomond as her daughters, Twinkle 2nd and Twinkle A tb, secured the championship and reserve at the Brisbane Royal Show, while her son, Bald Blair Star, a first prize-winner at the Sydney Royal Show, realised 380 guineas at auction. All of the above cattle were selected for export by Alessrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., who report having recently sold to Sir James Alurdoch, C.ALG., of BcndooLey, Rerrina, New South Wales, three heifers and two bulls from the studs of Alessrs W. A. ArcFarlane and W. Kinross White, Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. These cattle should prove a valuable addition to the Rendooicy herd. Alessrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., also shipped to New South Wales recently the two-year-old bull. Ethiopia of Gwavas. bred by the estate late A. G. S. Garlyon, Tikokino, Hawke’s Ray.
