ASSAULT WITH AXE.
WAITRESS ATTACKED. PRICE OF MEAL QUESTIONED, (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Annoyed at the charge of Is 6d fot* a meal ho had in a restaurant oa Saturday afternoon, Andrew Zimmerman, aged 58, struck at a waitress with an axe, but she avoided the blow. The girl’s cries attracted the cook, oa whom Zimmerman also attempted to use the axe. Zimmerman was charged before Mr McNeil. S.M., to-day, with assault ; ml fined £2. Ills counsel said it was only due to excitement that he had used the avo.
