V *X-i*RVIbEIWEN'S ASSOCIATION. • ■ ‘ I • r THE ANNEAL MEETING. . / (Special to Times.), At the annual meeting of the Cambridge branch' of the Ex-Servicemen s Association on Tuesday,following the Anzao service, the president (Mr W. F. Rush) presided over a large attendance. • ...... The rules of incorporation with thu pareht body were ’adopted and the following officers were elected; — President, Mr J. Richards; vicepresident, Mr W. F. Rush! secretary, Mr T. H. Hampshire! auditor, Mr H. Ferguson; committee, Messrs T. Kneebone and S, Hooker were ■- appointed to fill two vacancies on th 6 committee. The annual report showed that the membership roll stood at 86. Since the inception of the association in • 1025 the Bum of about £9OO had been spent among ex-servicemen for'relief purposes. Recently the committee evolved a scheme whereby relief work vvould be found for all married exservicemen with dependents during the stand-down week. The finances of the -.association showed a credit of £3O 13s 8d in the general account, £3 12s 4d in the wreath account, and 2s 6d In the reunion account. RUGBY FOOTBALL. CAMBRIDGE SUB-UNION. . ■ MANAGEMENT MEETING. At the first meeting of the newlyelected management committee of the Cambridge sub-union Mr H. Cubis pre- . sided. Kerr had been appointed in his stead. —A letter of appreciation is to be sent to Mr Sefton for his active interest,in football in the past. An offer from the Real branch of the St. John Ambulance Association to provide first aid on the football fields waß accepted Subject to its working > -under the union’s first , aid .officer. Tile appointment of selectors was - deferred until a future meeting. Messrs A. E. Harris, E, Hall and R. S, Entwistle were elected referees’ appointment commlLJee, and Messrs A. E. Harris and R, S. It was decided to carry out the ffisurftned scheme on the same lines as last year, 12s being compulsory from ’ every team. ' Peake,'- 'secretary of the Maungatautarl Football Club,- nominating a senior team for Inclusion in the senior grade competition.—Owing to a resolution passed at the annual meeting restricting the senior competition to four teams, which have already been aocepted, the meeting found it necessary to reject the nomination. It was resolved to hold a seven-a-side tournament next Saturday, April 29, for junior and senior grades, commencing at 1 p.m. Teams were nominated as follows: —•llautapu, 2 senior, 1 junior; Northern. ‘2 senior. I junior; Leamington, 1 senior, 1 junior; United, 1 senior, 1 junior. It was dee id ad that all senior 'matches during the season should be played at Cambridge or Leamington grounds. A suggestion that met with approval and will be decided later was that no B representative teams should lie fielded this season but that a club competition should be held for players not included In ttie A representatives. Tho Northern Club’s application for registration of their new colours • (black and white hoops), was granted. A notice of motion ' was received from Mr R. S. Enlwlstle (Northern), - for consideration at the next meeting, that third-grade players who do not exceed IS.years at May 31 should be eligible at any weight and players over 18 years should he limited to lost ' 71b.”
