THE Al/CKLAND MARKETS. TONE CONTINUES FIRM. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Business on the Stock .Exchange maintains a Arm tone, and at this morning’s call there Was steady bidding, with little variation from Monday's rates. Government 4 per cents were asked for at £99 both for bonds and stocks, with £1 less bid for the 34 per cents. Ranks were steady, and Inquiry came in for Bank of Australasia (con.) at £3 15s. Insurances continued firm, and there were buyers for South Brill-' at £3 3s Gd, with holders asking £3 ss. Buyers for Union Steam pref. shares advanced their offers to £ 1 Is 3d, and for Woolworlh profs., to £1 11s Gd.
Australian general securities were firm, with good offers for Colonial Sugar, Henry Jones and Mount Lyells.
Waihis were steady a(. Monday’s lower level, and nfler a sale at £1 2s there were still buyers at I'l Is 9d. Northern Roller .Mills' shares were wanted at £1 -is for ord. and 10s Gd for profs.
