JUVENILE CRIME.

INFLUENCE OF THE HOME. SCHOOL CHAIRMAN’S APPEAL. A strong appeal to all parents, teachers, youth movements and ministers of religion to use their best endeavours to assist In the moral development of children was made by Mr A. M. Bisley, ohalnman of the Hamilton West Sohool Committee, at the annual meeting of householders on Monday evening. Mr Bisley said recently a youth was convicted of serious crimes In Hamilton. In fact, similar crimes were read about every day In the newspapers. In many cases this was due to faulty home conditions. The thought had occurred tc him that the prisoners of our gaols were the school children of yesterday, and some of the school children of to-day would he the prisoners of the future. There was no doubt'that if parents, teaohers, churches and youth organisations made a (united effort a good deal could be done to improve the environment of many children' to-day. It had to he remembered that they should concern themselves, not only with the educational conditions of their children, but also with their moral upbringing. Mr Bisley’s remarks were endorsed by the headmaster, Mr H. G. Hall.
