GLASGOW LEASES.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —As the occupiers of Glasgow leases pay ground rent to the respective cities and boroughs in which they are situated, they are virtually tenants. This being'the case the occupiers of such leases are entitled to a 20 per cent reduction in rent in accordance with the Rent Reduction Act recently passed by Parliament. It would be very interesting to know why the Hamilton Borough Council has not' made the reduction of rentals in -terms. of -the act.—l am, etc., TENANT.
The Hamilton Borough Council -has made reductions In all cases where leases have been made between January 1, 1925 and January 1, 1930 (according to the act). In all other cases what is known as the hypothetical rent comes into the question, and people who think they are entitled to a reduction should make application to the borough council.—Ed., W.T.
