A MILLION VISITORS.
AIMED AT BY ISLE OF MAN WILL SPEND £1,000,000. The Isle of Man aims at attracting a million visitors to Its shores in a season, and it is prepared to spend £1,000,000 to do it. Thus, — The £250,000 new pier scheme at Douglas is being proceeded with; ■Douglas promenade-widening scheme is nearing completion, and will cost about £100,000; A scheme has been put into operation to provide electricity throughout the Island to cost another £100,000; . The Isle of Man Steam Packet, Company contemplate the building of a new passenger steamer to bring visitors, at a probable cost of about £200,000; Douglas Corporation have decided
on filtration bods to ensure pure water at a cost of £85,000; and Sohemes are under consideration for providing every village in the island with pure water and modern sanitation. These new amenities to the Island will be backed up by an Intensive newspaper advertising 'Campaign by the Isle of Man Publicity Board.
