BOROUGH COUNCIL.
! FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. ROUTINE BUSINESS. At the fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council last evening the Mayor (Dr. F. D. Pinfold) presided, there being also present the Deputy Mayor (Cr. A. J. Denz), Crs. C. J. W. Barton, W. Bourne, 11. Caro, F. H. Clapham, W. A. Curteis, W. W. Dillicar, F. J. Farrell, 11. M. Hammond, C. Lafferty, Garrick Nisbet and S. V. Tyler, and Messrs W. L. Waddel (town clerk) and I. Webster (electrical engineer) . The borough inspector (Mr J. Lewis) was authorised to take proceedings in all cases where license fees were not paid within four weeks of their becoming due. The council decided to make application to the Local Body Loans Board for authority to raise a renewal loan of £9OOO far a period of not exceeding 20 years, with sinking fund of not less than 2 per cent, per annum and interest at a rale not exceeding 54 per cent, per annum, in order to meet the balances required for the £IO,OOO and £4OO loans falling due during 1900. It, was decided that a firm applying for licenses for hide and skin depots should be required lo comply with the inspector’s requirements under the _ health regulation*.
