GARDEN PARTY.

A SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON. On Saturday afternoon a great many people availed themselves of the opportunity of seeing Mr and Mrs A. W. Ward’s delightful garden, when the Claudelands Ladles’ Guild held a garden party there in aid of St. Aidan’s Church fund. The day was glorious and the dahlias especially were much admired. Mr and Mrs Ward and thendaughters were assiduous in looking after the enjoyment of their guests. Brisk business was done at the ■stalls, and the Ice-creams were greatly appreciated. A delicious afternoon tea was served on the lawn, and the guild and its willing band of.helpers are to be 'congratulated on thenvery successful afternoon. Winners of prizes were:—Box of tea, Mrs Whewell; Persian kitten, Miss Lynettc Holloway; nail-driving, Miss Pickering; croquet. Mrs Paton; quoits, Miss Annette Gillies. Mrs Ward wore a black and grey patterned georgette frock, with black and grey hat; Miss Erena Ward, white silk pique, with white hat: and the Misses Nell and Jeannette Ward wore floral voile frocks with white felt hats.
