SPEED-BOAT BURNT.
EXPLOSION IN HARBOUR. MECHANIC ESCAPES INJURY. United Tress Assn Elec. Tel. Copyright SYDNEY, February. 19. An explosion oocurred on a new speed-boat built In Sydney for the Fijian Air Force. Walter Kuhl, 18, mechanic, was hurled into the air, but was rescued practically unharmed. The boat was burned to the water’s edge. Kuhl was beneath the cabin preparing to start the engine for test trials when the explosion occurred. It was due to an accumulation of petrol fumes. The boat was fitted with valuable engines and cost more than £IOOO.
