1931 REVIEWED. In a survey of American business during i'.Kll, the Newspaper Publishers’ Association established the fact, that each of 436 companies spent £ 12,300 or over on newspaper advertising. The aggregate outlay ol' these companies in newspaper advertisements was £37.1311,000. Jt is interesting to mde that the average expenditure per advertiser was slightly higher in 1031 than in 1030. The greatest Increases were In the tobacco amt wearing-apparel industries. Tobacco companies invested nearly £1,230,000 more in newspapT advertising in 103 1 than in 1030. The general analysis of newspaper advertising in various parts of the Uni!.at glates revealed I hr* fuel Dial, ill distends where the volume of newspaper implicit y was above the average, business returns were also above Hie average for the nation as a whole.
