ENGLISHMEN IN NEW ZEALAND. GOST OP TOUR SUBSTANTIAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. In an 'Official statement the New Zealand Cricket Council says that the team to play the Marylebone Cricket Club will be selected at the' end of February. The cost of the tour will be substantial. and is the first charge on the proceeds of the matches, apart from the minimum amount guaranteed by fjew Zealand.

It has been decided to issue 500 passes for each day in each centre, to unemployed, and the passes will be distributed through the Labour Department at Wellington, Christchurch, and Auckland. In addition 150 passes for the centre will be issued to the Returned Soldiers’ Associations at Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. As the Marylebone Cricket Club is interested financially in (lie proceeds of the matches it was necessary to obtain tlie approval of Messrs Warner, Palairet and Jardine to the proposals, and the New Zealand Council is pleased to say that approval lias been given generously. Mr Warner, who met many Dominion soldiers during the war, warmly approved the suggestion to issue passes to returned soldiers.
