Mr Justice Smith arrived in Hamilton to-day from Auckland and will preside at the Supreme Court sessions opening here to-morrow.

The Methodist Conference has granted permission to the Rev. \V. A. Sinclair, foreign mission secretary, to retire from that position. The Rev. A. 11. Serivin was unanimously appointed his successor. Mr Serivin has had 18 years of active experience in the mission held.
