SURPRISE EVENING.
COMINQ-OF-AQE PARTY. A very enjoyable surprise evening was taken to the residence of Mr and Mrs D. Simcock recently on the occasion of the coming-r>-age of their daughter Joan. The rooms were cheerfully decorated with asters and hydrangeas, e»d a merry evening was spent in dancing, games and competitions. A feature of the evening was tlie cutting of the birthday cake, which was a gift to Miss Simcock, and the presentation of a golden key. Mrs Simcock received the guests in a gown of burgundy eharmeuse, and Miss Joan Simcock wore a frock of autumn tinted floral ninon.
Among those present were: Misses GwenSimcock, Daphne and B. Dymock, Billie Black, Joan Macdougall (Auckland), June Palmer, Melba Hirst. Phyl Higgott (Auckland), Betty Mclntosh, Edna Walsh, Doreen O’Leary (Auckland), Bertha Louden.
