WAIKATO ASSOCIATION.
BANNER COMPETITION. HAMILTON BEAT WAIKATO EAST. Bright tennis was witnessed in the semi-final of the Waikato Lawn Tennis Association's banner competition on the Rosstrevor Street courts on Saturday afternoon. The competing teams represented the Hamilton Club and the Waikato East Sub-Association, and a keenly fought match resulted in a win for Hamilton by 17 .sets to 7, and 172 games to 117. THE HAMILTON CLUB.
COMPETITIONS COMMENCED. The Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club’s championship and handicap competitions have now started, and several games in both sections are completed. Good entries were received, and it I s probable- that the competitions will take some time to reach final stages. Following are (lie results of the latest games:—

DUNLOP SHIELD. ROTORUA, Sunday. The third round of the Dunlop Shield, between Rotorua and Tauranga South, was played in fine weather in the Government Grounds, Rotorua. Tauranga had an easy victory, winning 12 of the 15 games. SOUTHLAND BEATS OTAQO. (ny Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Sunday. A representative tennis match between Southland and Otago was plaved at Invercargill yesterday and was won by Southland by 13 matches lo 11. this making Southland’s first win since 1910.
