THOROUGH CAMPAIGN.
TO INCREASE SALES. WELL-KNOWN FIRM’S DECISION. •Mr W. Barratt, chairman of Messrs W. Barratt and Co., Ltd., the wellknown boot and shoe makers, of Footshape Works, Northampton, England, writes to an English newspaper:— “ Sir.—lt is very difficult at the present moment to be able to slate for certain whether there is a turn for the better in the trade of the world, or whether we have to wait some little time for that hoped-for event to take place. “ One thing is certain —that overhead charges and general expenses remain constant, and something must be done to increase trade right away. We cannot sit calmly with our arms folded waiting, like Micawber, for better things to., turn up. - That being so, the directors of W. Barratt and Co., Ltd., recently came to the conclusion that w© have got to start on a very thorough advertising campaign In order to make our well-known goods ©von better known. In planning this campaign all sorts of ideas passed through our minds — . film advertising, poster advertising, the national newspapers, etc., but it did not take us long to decide that there was no better method of bringing the virtues of our goods home to the public than the national press.”
