FLOWER SHOW.
SUCCESS AT RAGLAN. A SPLENDID EXHIBITION. The Raglan Horticultural Society can claim that its 19th annual show, held on Thursday, was a record one. fi’lm entries were more in number and better in quality than at previous shows'. At lhe opening ceremony mi i*. >• Stewart, the president, thanked all who had helped to make the show a success. , , Mr J. M. Thompson, chairman of the Raglan Town Board, welcomed Mr D. S Beid, M.P.. and was pleased to find that lie had recovered from his recent accident. ‘ Mr J. Bonn, chairman of directors of * the Raglan Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd.-, presented the trophies.. The clip given by Moses Wright, Stephenson and Go.. Ltd., lor district sending best average cream lo Raglan factory, which was won last year by Wainui, was presented to Ur t. Pearl, as representative of XXalteluna district, the winner for 1 his season. The Pctchell trophy for biggest increase in production in any held was won by Mr T. McDonald. Waiteluna. Mr Bonn said they would he pleased to hear that the factory supply had increased 20 per cent, this season. Mr Lee Martin said that Mrs *w%rtln and himself greatly appreciated
the invitation to attend the show. The Points Prizes. Air Stewart announced that the points prizes were won as follows: — Cut flowers, Mrs V. E. Pegler; floral work and pot plants, Mrs J. M. Thompson. The trophy given by Mr D. S. Reid, M.P., for most points in sec Lions 1 and 2, was won by Mrs V. E. Peglar. Vegetables, Mrs V. E. Pegler; fruit, Miss C. McDonald; preserves, jams, etc., Mrs F. W. ] Pearl; cookery, Mrs O’Sullivan; mis- | cellaneous, Mrs 0. McDonald; fancyI work, Miss Dent. The Bollard Cup foe most points in sections 1 to 8 was won by Mrs V. E. Pegler, with 88 points, Mrs C. Gilmore being second, with 70 points, and Mrs .). M. Thompson', third with 4LJ points, i Mr F. Rest, who had judged the flowers, was pleased to sec such a great array of exhibits. Mr D. S. Reid, M.P., who was recenvcd with applause, heartily congratulated exhibitors on the great display.
