FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Since my letter on the very grave menace of the foot and mouth disease I have received a letter from one who gets a Devon paper, giving 'details of a recent outbreak on Windsor Farm. The farm is occupied by j Mr W. Hudson, and the whole of hi 3 stock was slaughtered and burned on the fai’m, under the supervision of officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. The stock, comprising 20 head of cattle, 176 sheep and 30 pigs, was put into specially-dug pits and 9 tons of coal and a similar amount of wood was used in the, burning.. We are getting overrun*'by blights and pests, yet if this one Is allowed to come here .it oould do more harm than all the'others put together, also prevent us exporting li've stock to the many parts of the world where it is so keenly sought,—l am, etc., ' HALDANE COOK. Auokland, December 1, 1932.
